I am the one who waits each day for each day's surrender, and for the night with it's brief escape, from the prison of lonely need. I can hear the blood course through your veins, a rushing wave in a distant sea and the sound of your pulse beating, a constant ticking at my ears counts out each second of our separation, each hour of my longing. I am restless in my hunger for our perfect union, but I must wait for night's release and your love's surrender.

You call me from your sleep, and I arise to your heart's whisper. My path is lit by the candle of your skin, a flame in the blood hot moon. I watch you through the window, through the shade of a sleepless dream. I am the rustling of the soft night breeze, I am the sweet mist of your breath, and I know you feel my presence. Your body moves with each stroke of my gaze, the music of your dance is now the rhythm of desire.

In the space between your dreaming you will show me all your secrets. And with a kiss I will caress your soul and coax you through a glass. Melting colors of the night become faint shadows in your eyes. And our love will meet for a moment, in the place where time retreats. In a moment, we are joined, my need and your desire. In a moment, we are eternal, my ancient heart and your new devotion.

You are now tied to my embrace but there is no comfort I can give you. Your spirit will not rest again, it must pay a price for this ageless gift. Once you have shared my vision, you will fear your own desire. And search for your release in the glare of each dark night. And you will remember this confession as an echo in each day's surrender, calling you from your loneliness as you called me from my own.
